a sad day in the life of the Dell...

Perhaps you've noticed a lack of blogging on my part this past week. Want to know why? Well, it appears as though my 5 year old laptop has officially kicked the bucket. He has given me a few scares before, but he always managed to pull through. This time I'm not so sure. Now, we all know that I can't live without a computer, so it looks like I'm going to start computer shopping! I want a nice one of course, but I obviously can't afford the best of the best. What do you suggest? I NEED YOUR HELP FRIENDS!
R.I.P., Dell. You've been good to me and you will be greatly missed.
Until next time, readers, which hopefully won't be too long. I hate not blogging.

Not an HP. I suggest Vaio (pretty expensive) or Toshiba. Hp's are the cheapest for the most features, but cheaply made.

Mike got mine at Dell.com. You could look into refurbished machines. We've done that with no problems. Quite a bit cheaper too! Good luck.

We have an IBM and I love it. My parents have a Toshiba and they love it! I suggest either one. NOT an HP!!!

I thought maybe you had left the country or something.

I hated Apples in college but oh my word, the MacBook is incredible. My dad got one a little while ago and then decided it was too small for him to see so he just got himself a MacBook Pro and is selling me his MacBook. I couldn't be more pumped about it. They are less susceptible to viruses and stuff. And last longer. Better battery life. More stuff comes on it.

I must admit, I was getting worried about you! Jared recently got a Macbook. HE LOVES IT!!! I know they're a little pricey but I hear they stick with you for the long hall.

I'll have to talk to Kev about it and see what he says. You know he'll know the best ones out there! Every computer he's ever bought has lasted FOREVER. :)

MAC all the way. Downside is they're only available with a glossy screen for the most part. However, this is what you're going to find with Dells too. Hate the glossy.

So after talking with Kevin (the Computer Scientist--ha) this morning, he said that his next computer purchase is going to be an IBM--they are the best, but also more expensive. He said if you're planning on keeping the computer a while and really want to invest in a good one, then an IBM would be worth it. He also said if you didn't want to spend that much money, Dells are consistently reliable and cheaper. That's what we both have, and they've lasted forever. He didn't recommend a Mac. :)

Hey just wanted to let you know my friend here in S'ville fixes computers. Have you had yours looked at? She does wonders.

LT, get a MAC! i had two Dell laptops crash on me within 2 years...and ever since i got a Macbook, i have not had one single problem with my computer---and the battery life is unreal. i am obsessed with all things apple now..so i def recommend it (the macbook is the cheapest too).

Soon you should be receiving my recommendation among the two options you sent Jake the other day... I should say, though, I still recommend the macbook. They may cost more, but you get what you pay for, and with the Mac I would argue you get more than what you pay for. And you can get a refurbished white Macbook (with the exact same warranty) for about $850.

Just my 2 cents.
