newest tunes...

Have I ever told you how much I love music? I've mentioned before that I am indeed a true country music lover, but what most don't know about me, is that while I heart George Strait and Sugarland, I also have other really fantastic music on my ITunes. I go through phases when I want to listen to the same songs over and over and over again. Then I'll go through another phase when I want to download all new songs and start the cycle all over again.
Anyway, I got on a downloading kick the other day. And let me say, I have a to-die-for playlist going on. Don't believe me? See for yourself.
Here are a few of my recent downloads:
1. "Arms of a Woman"- Amos Lee
2. "I Will Lift My Eyes" -Bebo Norman
3. "Volcano" -Damien Rice
4. "Keep You"- Sugarland (you know I had to throw one country song in the mix!)
5. "Ava Adelle"- Jack Ingram
6. "If It Kills Me"- Jason Mraz
7. "A Beautiful Mess" -Jason Mraz
8. "My Life Would Suck Without You" -Kelly Clarkson (don't judge me)
9. "Red Light" - Jonny Lang
10. "Turn Me On"- Norah Jones
11. "Angel"- Jack Johnson
Pretty good huh? As my Dada used to say, "You can't beat it with a stick!" :)
Can you think of anything I should add??

Fall fashion

I am a sucker for fashion magazines (ex. InStyle, People Style, etc). I especially love analyzing them from cover to cover when the seasons change. I grabbed the newest People Style Watch yesterday and got a chance to study it today. Sometimes I try to pretend like I know what's in style, but after browsing the "new fall looks," I discovered that I have no idea what I'm doing with myself! I thought it would be kind of me to share People's top ten "must haves for fall". Aren't I nice? Oh, and you should probably jot this down.
1. RED! Red shoes, red tops, red dresses, red bags, red belts, red ANYTHING. Red is IN.

2. SADDLEBAGS. Much like the one you see here: (WHO KNEW?!)

3. RUFFLES! I particularly like the bags with ruffles. Super fun.

4. LEOPARD! I used to despise leopard. I would want to throw up when I saw someone wearing it. Now, I can't get enough of it and it looks like I'm going to looking for more leopard to buy!

5. BLACK LEATHER. Who's pulling out the leather pants you once shamelessly owned?? Yikes.

6. LUG-SOLED HEELS. I'm not making any promises about this one, but I won't diss it until I at least try some on!

7. BOLD GOLD NECKLACES. Score. I can do this one. I love fun gold necklaces. And the bigger the better? That's just what I wanted to hear.

8. SHEATH DRESSES. I'm not sure I really understand what they mean by this. Hmmm.... I guess I need to do some research on this one. I'll get back to you.

9. NEON PINK AND BLACK. Is anyone else sorta kinda excited about this new trend? Hello 1987!!

10. LEGGINGS. I'm glad to see that they're still in. Perhaps I'll try a pair with zippers at the bottom. Who am I kidding??? I could NEVER pull that off. Forget I said that. More power to you though!

I was also shocked to find out that GREEN FINGERNAIL POLISH is in this fall! Perhaps I'll give that one a try! Green is, after all, my favorite color. Think my 2nd graders will like it??
OK, so who's ready to go shopping now???!!

an absolute tear-jerker.

This is a video that EVERYONE should see. Take time to watch it, but be prepared to cry.

yay for fall!

I know, I know....it's not fall yet, and it's going to be quite sometime before it looks like thisin Mississippi! In fact, we're probably looking at another several weeks of 90+ degree weather. Ugh.
I always look forward to changing my calendar from August to September. Being the first month of school and painfully HOT, August is a tough month for me. When September arrives, I feel a sense of relief, and I know that my favorite season is on its way!
I love fall. I love cool air. I love leaves. I LOVE college football. I love "tailgating food" :). I love Thanksgiving.
I really just love fall.
I haven't had a lack of blogging material lately, I've just had a lack of energy and time. Please forgive me. My school routine has been established though, and I'm planning on getting back into my blogging routine SOON.
In the mean time, it's the end of a very long week and I'm tired.
Sweet dreams to all! LT

KD reunion!

I went to a KD reunion in Jackson this weekend, and I was able to see so so many old college friends who I haven't seen in YEARS! I had an absolute blast! It was one of the best times I've had in a while. Here's to hoping this becomes a tradition!

So many of my "blog friends" are KD friends of mine, and I thought of tagging their names, but that would take a really REALLY long time. I did however, make a slideshow of every single picture I took last night, so if you were there and I forced you to take a pic with me, you should see yourself below!

welcome to 28, friend!

Even though my dear, precious, wonderful friend Claire has announced the facebook world that she thinks I look like Judge Sonia Santomayer, it's still her birthday, and being the nice person that I am, I'll give her the post she deserves. (Although I'm still not over the whole judge thing).
I've become quite a fan of the "ABC" birthday list, so here's CLAIRE'S very own list:
Alpine, TX. A fantastic trip taken by the 2 of us to visit our dear, dear friend.
Birmingham. Where she calls "home" at the moment (and a great place for me to visit!)
Circus peanuts. (Actually "C" could stand for crap candy! If it's nasty and sugary, she LOVES it!)
Dances to "Colors of the Wind" regularly.
Emerald monster. May it RIP.
Friend. And a very good one at that. I'm thankful everyday for my friendship with Claire!
Griffin. Patty Griffin that is.
Hot tea. She LOOOOVES it.
Involved. In college, she was the girl that was involved in E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. It sorta stressed me out. Then again, Claire's life in general stresses me out.
James Taylor lover
Knows more people than anybody I know. This girl is so easy to be friends with. She's been a bridesmaid in approximately 348 weddings.
Literature teacher. And a dang good one too.
Mississippi girl (even if she never lives in this glorious state again!)
Narcoleptic
Obsessions. A few include: Clifford, Dwight K. Schrute, Ebay, and Prefontaine
Pippi
Quirky
Red wine
Smashing pumpkins (literally)
Teacher friend
Unleash the monster
Volvos
Worms
X-cellent writer
Yaya. While she's not the one who gave me the name, she'll never again refer to me as anything else.
Zyrtec. A dear friend of hers. Unfortunately.
Want to read more wonderful things about this dear person? Click here and here!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRIEND!
Welcome to being "close to 30" just like me!

Love you much!

I'm alive. I promise.

Sorry for the blogging delay. I'm still here, and I promise I won't neglect the 'ol blog much longer! It took me the entire week last week to really get my feet under me after going back to work. I had no energy to do ANYTHING last week! I slept entirely too much this past weekend, but apparently it was what I needed! I can already tell that this week is going to be better! School is crazy and my life is once again super busy, but I can't really complain. I've got a great group of kids this year. I really really do. Plus, I got a teacher intern today who I'm really excited about. Stay tuned. I promise I'll be back to my regular blogging.

Oh, just one more thing...is anybody else ready for a new season of TV????

first day of school!

The first 2 days with my new students are over, and while my little body is exhausted right now, I'm thrilled to have those days behind me. Looking forward to starting "fresh" on Monday.
Here are a couple of pictures I took on the first day. The first is me and HEGS and the bottom picture is of me and Marquita, my fabulous assistant! I wish I could post a picture of my students, but I don't feel comfortable doing that for privacy reasons. :)
Looking forward to getting back in the swing of things, so that I can have more time for things like BLOGGING! Happy Saturday!

I made it.

Well. I survived my first day of school with students. GO ME. Other than the normal exhaustion that we teachers feel after this day, I guess I can't really complain. The most challenging part of the first few days is making sure each child gets not only gets on the correct bus, but I also have to be sure that each child is properly "labled" with their name, bus number, address, AND my name." What to know how long it takes to do that with 22 kids? A.long.time. Then of course, I have to walk them to their buses so that I can verify that they got on the correct bus. Sound fun? Don't be fooled.
Glad to get the first day over and very thankful that tomorrow is Friday!
Oh, and forgive my lack of blogging. Internet is giving me problems at home, and well, I'm probably going to be a little tied up here at school to have time to post in the afternoons! I'll do what I can. You won't be left hanging long. ;)

Dear Carrie,

Thanks for proving to the world that I'm not the only person who falls down while jogging. Maybe now people will stop harrassing me about it.And P.S. I LOVE your Hello Kitty band-aids. Perhaps I should get some to have ready for my next mishap.
Sincerely, a fan and fellow clutz,
LT

finish the sentence...

I have to go back to school Monday, so any blogging I do before then needs to require as little thinking as possible.
This was seen on facebook. Requires a bit of typing, but not much thinking. I can handle it.
1.My ex is.......out of my life. Thank goodness.
2.Maybe I should.....turn off my computer, read, and GO TO BED.
3.I love......friends, family, Max, mexican food, Target, peanut butter, and diet coke.
4.People would say that I am.....organized. This is true. I'd like to thank my mom for this trait!
5. I don't understand....how to do my taxes. It's a mental block.
6.When I wake up in the morning......I take Max out and get to the coffee maker ASAP.
7.I have lost....the match to one of my favorite pairs of earrings. Sad.
8.Life is full of....adventure.
9.My past taught me....to be stronger than I thought I could be and more patient than I thought I needed to be.
10.I get annoyed......when people litter, say the "f" word, smoke around me, or lie to me.
11.Parties are....great; as long as there is cake and/or wine involved! :)
12.I wish.....I would stop worrying about the future! GOD IS IN CONTROL!
13.Dogs .....are the best. I love Max. Don't know what I'd do without him!
14.Cats....are NO WHERE NEAR as good as dogs.
15.Tomorrow is....Sunday. Officially my last day of summer. I plan to go to church, go to the gym, and go to school and work for a while!
16.I have a low tolerance for......ignorant people.
17.If I had a million dollars....I would give really good gifts. Oh, and I probably wouldn't be renting a duplex anymore.
18.I am terrified....of car accidents, snakes, and roaches.
19.I've come to realize that my last kiss.....was actually quite great. ;)
20.I am listening to....Suzanne from "House Hunters"
21.I talk....on the phone often.
22.My friend(s).....are the best. No...seriously. They are.
23.My first real kiss.....was when I was 22. That's right. And you know what? It was quite worth the wait. ;)
24.Love is....."seeking the best for others regardless of its cost to you"
25.Marriage is...something I hope to experience one day!
26.Somewhere, someone is thinking...."I want some Mexican food"
27.I'll always....try to please others. Is that always a good thing? You tell me.
28.The last time I really cried......was probably about a month ago.
29.My cell phone is....always next to me. I'm usually quite easy to get in touch with.
30.Before I go to bed........ I will take Max out, brush my teeth, and say my prayers! :)
31.Right now I am thinking about.....school starting Monday.
32.Babies....are miracles. I want one.
33.Today I.....slept LATE, ran errands, worked out, worked in my classroom, and had a glass of wine with Claire.
34.I really want to...make a difference in someone's life.
35.Someone that will most likely re-post this is....hmmmm...I don' t know. Heather?, Claire?, MSKS?
