recommendations, anyone?

As you can see from my beach ticker, I'll be laying in the sun in a little over 3 weeks! I can't wait!
Here's where I need your help! I need to take a good book or 2 with me to the beach. I'm looking for a light read--nothing too deep or hard to follow (please think about that before you recommend something, Claire and MSKS!). My goal is to not have to think too much while I'm there. :)

Note: 24 days until beach time means 21 days left until SCHOOL IS OUT! (14 school days to be exact! WOO HOO!).

The Twilight books! They are intended for middle school kids, but they are good! I'm sucked into the 3rd one right now...

The Choice by Nicholas Sparks is great! It is a light read. It is one of those you will laugh and cry... but laugh mostly! Have fun!

I concur that the Twilight series is a must read. I am currently reading Marley and Me and Michael finds me giggling to myself nightly. You can find a complete list of my recs at this address: http://mandmketchum.blogspot.com/2008/09/book-list.html
Yes...I am a big of a book nerd.
Anything by Jodi Picoult will be excellent as well.
Have fun and think of me while you're there. No beach trip for us this year!

OK I am not a book reader BUT already this year I have read 2. I have not read the shack BUT I have had other friends read it and say it is awesome. My husband is currently reading it and I will read it when he is through. Here is a website on it http://www.theshackbook.com/read.html. I am currently reading the first book in the twilight series and it is addicting. I can't wait to read what others suggest.

I read the first two of the Mark of the Lion series by Francine Rivers. They are both "page turners" and an easy, entertaining read. They are the first Christian fictions I've ever read so I was skeptical - but they were really good!

I just finished Love The One You're With by Emily Giffin in one day. Very easy read. Her other books are good too...Something Borrowed and Something Blue. Have fun at the beach!!

I'm agreeing with everyone that you should just go ahead and pack Twilight and Marley and Me.

CONFESSION: I tried reading the Twilight books and just couldn't get into them. I know--I'm a disgrace to all of you. Marley and Me has been recommended to me a good bit, so that looks like a promise. I'm going to look into lots of these others that you've mentioned. Keep those recommmendations coming! They're helping me!

I would highly recommend anything by Mary Kay Andrews, especially Savannah Blues, Savannah Breeze, and Hissy Fit. They are the perfect "Southern" easy reads.

Okay, you probably already know what I'm going to say, but my vote is that the Twilight Saga is a series of books that will not let you down. I'm currently on ky 8th reread of the series. Crazy, huh?

Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert is great....and I LOVED Marley and Me. Have fun!!

I have also read ALL of Emily Giffin's books! Something Borrowed, Something Blue, Baby Proof, and Love the One You're With. They are really good and I could not put them down...

The Help by Kathryn Stockett! I LOVED this book, and the story takes place in Jackson, MS. Kathryn is from Jackson, and I think you will really like it. If you love the south then you will love this book! I highly recommend it!! I'm a little biased since my family is friends with the author's family!

I am taking the Twilight books to SeaSide. I am reading the choice right now (Katie's recommendation!). It is good. I can bring that for you!! Seaside in one month with the fam - CAN NOT WAIT.

PS - I have Marley and Me, too. Look, just don't do it to yourself. Not at the beach. I cried for 4 hours after I finished the book. And then another 4 hours when I thought about it the next day. Sorry, Trish. But it is SO good!

Yaya,

1. You didn't try hard enough with Twilight. Let's be honest. You get about a C- for effort on that one. It is the perfect beach read.

2. MSK(S) and I would both recommend My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. Easy read, VERY good.

3. I second the Eat Pray Love recommendation. You'd like it.

4. The Mark of the Lion series IS EXCELLENT - I was skeptical like Alison, but it was really, really good. Lots of interesting history on the early church, and the plot is GRIPPING. I do recommend it, though I don't think you'd last long with it at the beach.

5. Girl Meets God by Lauren Winner is good.

6. What about The Nanny Diaries or Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil? That one is HILARIOUS, and I have the large print version (accidental ebay purchase) if you want to borrow.

I'm going to recommend the Sophie Kinsella books if you haven't already read them - Confessions of a Shopaholic, etc. There are about 5 of them and so easy to read and will make you laugh!

Also, Janet Evonovich has a series out. I think the first one is One for the Money. They follow a girl bounty hunter in New Jersey, Stephanie Plum. They are hilarious and I honestly laugh out loud while I read them. I'd check them out at the library for sure since I think she's up to book #13.

Have a great time at the beach!
