blogging break...

I have come to the realization that not all things really are as they appear and not all people are who they say they are. I have been in a relationship for the past 8 months with someone who I, as well as my family, believed to be "the one." This is false. He is not who he says he is. He continuously lied to me, my sisters, my family, and my friends throughout our entire relationship. Our relationship was based solely on lies. I'm thankful that I realized this now instead of 3 months from now, when we were expected to be engaged. He has a serious sickness and if you live in this area and he has encountered you in inappropriate ways, I sincerely apologize.
I'm going to ask that you pray for me and my whole family as I try to move on with my life.
I am taking a break from the blogging world for a while as I try to figure things out.

sooo....

I was already getting tired of the pink background. Don't you think this template is a little more "me"? I do.

Easter, my 27th, and "WELCOME TO THE DELTA!" (????)

"LaLa is 27!!! AHHHHH!"

This was a nearly PERFECT weekend. It was Easter, my birthday (who doesn't like to get a little extra attention??), I've been on a nice break from school, I spent all of my time with people I love (we missed you Heather and Trey!), and the weather was fabulous. What more could I ask for?

Sunday morning started with a knock at my door at 8:08 am (the exact time of my birth 27 years ago), and JR standing there with this gorgeous bouquet of tulips! There are probably 30 tulips here. Aren't they beautiful?! I wish you could see the pretty flower pot they're in too.
While on the subject, I must brag a little more about JR. He's one of the most thoughtful people I know, and he's also a fabulous gift-giver. He never once asked me what I wanted for my birthday, nor did I hint around to him about anything I wanted. He shopped for me on his own and did such a good job. He gave me a great Nike zip-up running jacket, which I totally needed, and an MSU travel coffee mug. He also gave me a beautiful piece of Red Leaf Pottery. It's a chip or crackers and dip serving piece that I'll definitely put to good use and would have totally picked out for myself. Great job, JR!
Oh, but that's not all my friends! He says that this next gift was one that he was a little "self interested in" (I wonder why). Take a look. It's already hanging up in my house....

Are you confused?

I have never lived in the Delta. Not even close. But, as you may know, JR grew up in Glen Allen, which is located near Greenville. He said when he saw it, he really liked it and thought I needed it. I absolutely love the randomness of this gift, and I now have it proudly hanging in my kitchen for all to see. It'll definitely turn some heads. :)

Isn't it great?

Here are some more pictures from the weekend:

As you may recall, Easter ended my 40 day deprivation of sweets. I will refrain from listing all of the sweets I consumed yesterday, but I can assure you that I have no regrets today. I never thought chocolate could taste so good.

I want to be in Alpine, TX today!

Happy Birthday Meredith Murphy Horn!
In honor of the 26th birthday of one of my favorite people on Earth, I've composed a list of 10 reasons why I love this girl.:
1. She's married to a real cowboy who insists that she own a pair of wranglers.
2. She quotes "Waiting for Guffman" quite possibly better than I can.
3. She won an award in Starkville for working at SnoBiz longer than any other employee. Man...she made KILLER snow cones.
4. She has castrated a bull.
5. She has several siblings, lots of nieces and nephews (shout out to SB!), and even more cousins. She's related to everybody.
6. She dislikes Bob Saget as much as I.
7. She has more friends than anybody I know (OK...it's a toss up between her and Claire...I guess I should say she 'ties' for having the most friends).
8. She's in a Rascal Flatts video.
9. She is loyal.
10. She's one of those people who you fall in love with the first time you meet. Not only is she gorgeous, but she has one of the most amazing hearts of anybody I've ever known. God has truly blessed me with her friendship. I wish everybody had a "Meredith" in their life! I miss you Meredith and wish I could be with you today! I love you friend!!!!

Birthday girl!

My sweet Mamaw turned 86 on Thursday. I wanted to wait until today to give her a "birthday post" so I'd have pictures to show! My parents and I drove to Meridian, where we met Kristen, Rob, Henry, and my 2 aunts, Melanie and Judy. We were able to spend a little time with Mamaw, give her a few gifts, and eat some cake! (Well, everyone else got to eat cake...I still have a week left of no sweets--PURE TORTURE).
It was a great day and my sweet grandmother seemed to enjoy herself!

By the way, I re-joined facebook world today. Why? I have no idea. Can we be friends?

Love the skin you're in.

Well, I'm slowly making my way to being 30 years old (ok, i have 3 more years left before this milestone!) and I'm already noticing the skin on my face changing. I never really had skin problems growing up. In high school, while many teenagers struggle with acne, my face remained fairly clear. It wasn't until I got to college that my face started randomly breaking out. SO NOT FUN! I ordered Proactiv Solution and used it for YEARS. It did the trick, and for the most part, my face has remained clear since. (I highly recommend this product to anyone struggling with unclear skin!). Now that I'm in my mid-twenties, I only deal with the occasional blemishes that I feel are fairly normal. But, I'm now noticing other annoying skin issues that I haven't had before. I'm already starting to get small lines around my eyes, slight discoloration, and dark circles under my eyes (which I have actually had nearly all of my life unfortunately). Now, I've never been one to stay in the sun for extended periods of time. My ADD kicks in if I try to lay out for too long! :) BUT I've also never been one to put sunscreen on my face while I'm outside. My mindset: "Well, I'm only going to be outside for a little while, and I do want a little color on my face!" I'm beginning to regret this mindset of mine. I've also never been a huge tanning-bed-goer, but I won't lie, I've definitely been more than a few times. Did I wear anything to protect my face while doing so? Nope and I'm slapping my hands for this now.
Now that I don't use Proactiv anymore, I've been searching for the 'right' facial products for me. Maybe this is it!
Kristen actually told me about visiting the Oil of Olay website where you can answer a few questions about your skin and get a free consultation. (There's even a slightly annoying lady who walks you through each of the questions!). I decided to give it a try. After answering the questions about my skin, they were able to provide me with a list of products that they recommended just for me. I'm kind of excited about buying some of them and hopefully seeing results!
And no, I'm not going to tell you that I'm completely avoiding the sun from now on, but you better believe that I'm going to start better protecting my face!
Click here now and get YOUR free consultation!

On a completely different topic...I just got back from visiting Candy for a couple of days. Yesterday we spent the day shopping. Landon went with us and was a real trooper! As long as he had food in hand, he was a happy camper! Look at this adorable face! Isn't it amazing how messy a child can get after eating something? I think this is hilarious. I miss them already!

Bulldog sports! What's not to love?

2 things that make me happy right now:
1. My spring break has begun--YIPPEE! I'm so excited I could cry.
2. JR and I pretty much spent the whole weekend attending MSU sporting events. We beat LSU in basketball yesterday. It was the last home game, so it was an especially exciting win. ALSO, my fantastic friend Alexa was in town, so we got to chat a little at the game. I love that girl. JR gets annoyed when I start taking pictures in public places, so I was quite impressed that he: a). agreed to actually TAKE a picture of me and Alexa and b). the picture actually turned out REALLY good. Great photography, JR! :)
While the double-header baseball game against Baylor wasn't so pretty, it was really fun to be at Dudy Noble today. If only it had been slightly warmer, it would have been perfect baseball weather.
Recognize the handsome man on the pitcher's mound? Yep, that's Tommy T.! :) My dad threw the first pitch this afternoon. He pitched in high school and junior college, and was quite the baseball player 'back in the day' from what I hear. He didn't exactly throw the heat today, but I was still very proud of him!

That's my daddy!

The Top 12 announced!!! And.....anyone want to go SWIMMING?

And here's the top 12 from AI:
L column: Ramiele, Amanda, Chikezie, Brooke, Carly, and Syesha
R Column: David A., Michael, David C., Kristy, Jason, and the 3rd David.

Opinions, anyone??

Changing the subject a bit---it rained here during the night. A LOT of rain. I took it upon myself to snap a picture this morning of what it looks like at the end of my driveway after a good rain. Is this not RIDICULOUS? I've seen workers come and attempt to take care of this problem, but apparently they've been unsuccessful. There's no point in me ever washing my car because as soon as I do, it'll rain again and I'll have to deal with THIS. I mean, this CAN'T be good for my car can it? I feel like my car is going to sink when I pull out of my driveway. So not good.

I'm thinking about buying one of this inflatable rafts and making the best of this. Come join me if you'd like, but bring your own raft.

Z! (I'm done)

Z is for "zoo!"
Kristen and Rob recently took Henry to the zoo for the first time. They said he was totally fascinated.
Here's a picture Kristen took of Rob holding Henry while they're looking at the giraffes. Kristen, being the creative one that she is, took the picture to CVS and put this cute border around it. I was lucky enough to snatch a copy of it.
Isn't it cute?

Well, I did it. I made it though the entire alphabet. Sure, I changed the 'rules' up a bit along the way, but aren't you impressed??

What in the world will I blog about now? =)

Y

Y is for "yogurt," which is one of my favorite snacks! I'm not talking about frozen yogurt, although the frozen kind, in my opinion, is the best. Well, let me rephrase that statement: TCBY frozen yogurt is the best. BUT, if you recall, some very mean people took our TCBY away from us and I'm still whining about it. It hurts me to look at the new yogurt place, which, by the way is no where NEAR as good.
Anyway, I'm actually talking about the slightly healthier yogurt (the 'unfrozen' kind). I'm sure you've had Yoplait, Dannon, etc., but let me tell you...the inexpensive Kroger brand yogurt is the BEST of them all. It's healthy (80 calories for the "Lite" yogurt) and so very cheap. There's also a huge variety of flavors, some of which include: Key Lime Pie, Bananas Foster, French Apple Pie (yum), Cherry Vanilla, Blackberry, Pina Colada, and lots more.
So, if you're like me and trying to eat healthy and pinch pennies at the same time, trying this yogurt is a must for you!

X (?????)

Well, I have failed miserably at my own game. I know all of you were really expecting something great for X but the truth is, I have nothing. Nada. Zilch.
I've been thinking about this obnoxious letter today and figured I could have tweaked it a bit and used something like "exercise", "experiment",
"excellent", etc, but alas, I've settled with a googled picture of Telly, the Sesame Street character, holding the letter "x" and teaching children about X-rays. (How can anybody NOT like Sesame Street??).
So, to all of you who have been sitting on pins and needles and waiting patiently (or perhaps impatiently) for me to post something brilliant, my apologies to you.
Better luck next time.
I'm curious though, what would YOU have posted for this letter?

W

W is for my weekend pictures!
The weather this weekend was ideal and it made me so excited about the spring!!
Kristen and Henry were here so the weekend was great. Saturday morning, I helped with the Kid's Fair at my school, so Henry came by and had the best time! He loved the bee and balloon (and really anything that begins with a "b") ! He also enjoyed walking around and waving at people. He doesn't like to be ignored, so he gets really offended if people didn't wave back at him! :)
Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

Have a great week!

One more week for me and then it's SPRING BREAK TIME! :)

Oh yeah--shout out to my genius sister for my new blog header! I thought it was time for a change! Thanks Heather!

V

v is for victory! Today was especially a GREAT day to be a bulldog! We took care of the University of Florida this afternoon, and we're SEC West champs! Woo hoo!
The Diamond Dawgs played the Air Force Academy at the beautiful Dudy Noble Field. Wasn't it a gorgeous day? We won 1 out of 2 games and will be facing them again tomorrow afternoon.
GO DAWGS!
